Experiência negativa: As a resident this exhibit is free, so we didn’t pay. However, I think the price is steep considering there’s only work from a couple artists. The majority of the art featured in the exhibit is angsty and nude. I just wish there was more to see from a variety of artists.

Experiência fantástica: Two artists were highlighted on the two floors. Extremely well done installations. One can meander from room to room at a comfortable space. No one rushes you through. I wish we would have been there for Fridsy music! Check their programming before you visit.

Experiência negativa: The building and the woodwork are gorgeous. The exhibits were not very interesting and there were only a few rooms open. The fee was 15$ an adult, too high a fee to view the 3 small exhibits. None of the exhibits had anything to do with Newport or summer. One of the exhibits was the same 2 shapes of bowls, in different colors and another was abstract hospice art. There was also nude photography. I’d recommend saving your money and stopping at the Redwood Library. The library is free and has a small collection of miniature landscapes.

Experiência negativa: If i could do zero stars i would. The glass thread bowls were interesting. The rest of the “art” was mostly nude photography. The mansions have much better art work. For a town that has so much history was expecting much better for the art museum. Maybe some paintings. Historical art, sculptures, statues something. I would recommend going to the library next door (free) and has beautiful artwork and very old books or again the mansions have beautiful historical artwork

Experiência fantástica: When we got married in April, we knew the unpredictability of April weather meant taking pictures indoors. The Newport Art Museum is a sentimental part of our love story, so naturally, we knew we wanted our wedding photos to be taken here. We worked with Ellen who was efficient, responsive, and thorough. We were able to take 1.5 hours with our wedding party in the museum and were able to capture great photos. As an added bonus, no one in our wedding party had ever been to the Newport Art Museum, so we were excited to introduce them all to yet another Newport gem. We were thankful to have such a great experience with the Newport Art Museum.

Experiência negativa: We were very disappointed. The museum only had a few rooms open. we were hoping to see some art that included Newport history, but did not see much. We were told that a second building was open with student art. We paid $15 each to enter. We assumed they meant meant college students. When we entered the one room open in the second building, the art appeared to be from elementary school students. I’m not exaggerating. Overall, we were highly disappointed with our visit and will not be returning. We also visited the sailing museum and International Tennis Hall of Fame, which were both fantastic. There is a automobile museum as well. I would highly recommend any of those over the art museum.

Experiência negativa: My friends and I stopped at this museum thinking it would be a positive experience. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted and awkwardly stood in front of the ticket desk until we finally referenced buying a ticket. After we all bought tickets, she decided to verbally acknowledge us and tell us an art lecture was happening at 2:00 (it was 1:20pm). It felt very cold socially in there and my friends and I being young felt unwelcomed during our visit. I wouldn’t recommend waisting your time here, despite nice art - it was a negative and uncomfortable experience. If their goal is to keep young individuals out, they got that point across. Spend your time & money at a mansion or the Tennis Hall of Fame - it’ll be a much better experience, that I promise you. Also, one building was completely closed and there was no discounted price and we weren’t told prior to purchasing our tickets. Very snooty energy here overall.

Experiência fantástica: A must stop if your coming to the Newport area. It's not huge but I'd give yourself between 2-3 hours if you want to see everything and read some of the informational plaques. My favorite exhibit was the blown glass. I'll be back the next time I visit Newport for sure.

Experiência fantástica: I stopped by this cute little museum because I absolutely love seeing art. If you are a member, the entrance fee is free, but otherwise, it is $15 for adults, which, in my opinion, is quite steep for the amount of exhibits you get to see between the two buildings. You can pay the fee at either location and the staff is friendly and helpful. Both locations, including the grounds, are well organized and maintained. This place is definitely worth checking out while visiting the area.

You can buy dual membership at double ticket price if others visiting, or want to revisit. Staff was really friendly and responsive to questions.

Experiência negativa: AVOID HERE. It was almost impossible to find the museum as it looks like an inn from outside without any sign except a transparent small one on the door. I thought the library across the street was the museum because it looks much more legit and has a contemporary sculpture in the yard. I wore a mask stepping inside, the woman (or similar) with no mask at the front desk asked me very loudly: “Are you not fully vaccinated?” That’s a question of Hell, even in New York no one ever asked me this question to the face. I responded: “I have a vax card. Is it REQUIRED to enter the museum?” Said no. The museum management should seriously take on this staff on basic ethics and social norm training; if she wants to get famous think I’ll post her somewhere online she’s wrong. The museum charges a whopping fee for a ticket. Museum in this kind of neighborhood should be made free like those in Aspen. Art on display is behind any standard. Also if driving from the toll road pass Jamestown, if you have ezpass mounted on car please remember to go by the left lanes before the bridge. I went by the center lane where there’s a person in the cabin and told me the machine doesn’t recognize my transponder and I had to pay him. Immediately you know it’s a lie and I was double charged for the toll because it never happened in another state even when the cabin has an assistant present. Depressing opportunity zone!! Will never come back to this town and nor should you.

Experiência negativa: A beautiful building but a very disappointing selection of art. Mostly one note--lacking much in the way of artistic, worldview, class, or ethnic diversity. Lots of portraits of rich people, which perhaps is interesting to some. I was hoping for a more seasoned and finely curated experience...instead was treated to an odd mix of aforementioned portraits and surface level art-school projects.

Experiência positiva: Crushing's portraits of his wife are beautiful, so graceful and almost ethereal. The museum has some great pieces but I wish they provided more information on the pieces themselves than so much on the history of the artist. I just want to know what the flowers in "The Language of Flowers" translates to using Victorian Flower Language which I assume they are alluding to.

Experiência fantástica: Better than I expected! There are two buildings. The older building has very charming interior details, a gorgeous staircase, nice paintings. I enjoyed it a lot!

The latest deals with India citizens in WWII. Done creatively and with a spooky sense of the personal. Three cheers to Newport Art for doing this.

Experiência fantástica: Truly enjoyed my visit to the Newport Art museum. It was well worth the small entrance fee. I was in awe of both the exhibits and the building which was the former home of the Griswald family. Again if you’re in the area it is worth a tour!
