🗣️ Museo del Hospital de San Bartolomé: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: Called the listed number today, and found out the museum is closed for the "next couple of years" due to a construction project. Also says the same on their website.
Experiencia fantástica: The museum's dedication to cultural authenticity is showcased through its meticulous recreation of historical scenes, providing an immersive journey through time.
Experiencia fantástica: Great detailed history of the area, especially considering its size, very much recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: A very interesting museum explaining all about one of the most famous and prestigious hospitals in the country.
Experiencia fantástica: wow. fantastic small museum in this old structure dating back to 1123. typically quiet and always free
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely small museum on the history of medicine as practiced here for 900 years, lots of interesting items on display
Experiencia fantástica: Great little museum full of the last 900 years of St. Bartholomew's history. Recommend visiting and the staff are most welcoming.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely place to visit
Experiencia positiva: The museum is not in the main hospital so had trouble finding it. Once there, it's tiny. Few old bits & pieces to look at but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There was no queue, no one else in there but it was free.
Experiencia fantástica: Was there for the 900-year anniversary of St.Bartholemews Hospital Service. It was excellently organised and beautifully put together service. I was so moved by how the Hospital and St. Paul's came together for such an auspicious event.
Experiencia fantástica: The museum is excellent!
Experiencia fantástica: We enjoyed a tour with a very kind and knowledgeable guide, the history of this hospital is incredible, they have their 900 Birthday this year
Experiencia fantástica: I visited this hospital to see a memorial plate of Sherlock Holmes. Museum is small and just for Sherlockian or having intresset for history of this hospital. Close to enter from the old gate, not main entrance of hospital.
Experiencia fantástica: Best hospital ever
Experiencia positiva: Wonderful short tour with interesting history & exhibits
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting small museum to lear more about this historic hospital! The volunteer on the door was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions! And the gem of it all: the beautiful staircase painted by William Hogarth!
Experiencia fantástica: Great value fo r money
Experiencia fantástica: Um prédio antigo, onde morreu o Sr. William Wallace.
Experiencia positiva: Good Patient Service Always
Experiencia positiva: Short but interesting hospital museum. Worth visiting if you are interested in medical history.
Experiencia fantástica: ciekawe zbiory muzealne, warte odwiedzenia
Experiencia fantástica: Small sized museum in the midst of a hospital area but contains some very old medical documents. Won't take up a huge chunk of the day so it's definitely worth to pop in even if it's for the hour
Experiencia fantástica: I was in the Great Hall, rather than the museum. What a stunningly beautiful place with a good acoustic for chamber music.
Experiencia fantástica: Spooky
Experiencia positiva: Well organized
Experiencia positiva: It's a great hospital museum. Not many hospitals have a public one so this in itself is a feature.
Experiencia positiva: I visited this area of St Barthelomews hoapital recently. Parking is practically non existant, so I travelled by public transport. The hospital part that I needed to attend was not sign posted well, and was difficult to find
Experiencia positiva: Staff
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic museum explaining all about one of the most famous and prestigious hospitals in the country.
Experiencia fantástica: Really nice hospital and nice staff
Experiencia positiva: Small, free, quiet museum of early British medicine, with history of St. Bart's & other local hospitals, with more searchable in their online catalogue. Be sure to see William Hogarth's 18th cent. paintings in room at back. Just steps away are Bart's Pathology Museum, the 14th cent. Church of St. Bartholomew the Less, & the old Smithfield meat mkt. In Sherlock Holmes lore, St. Bart's is where Holmes first meets Watson in 'Study In Scarlet', & the location of the cliff-hanger ending in Reichenbach Fall, S2 ep-3 of the BBC TV series Sherlock.
Experiencia positiva: Very nice hospital
Experiencia positiva: While the hospital itself is clean and tidy, staff are overworked as all hospitals these days are within london especially - they remain professional and helpful as much as they can be. I admire them for their hard work and I wouldn't trade places with them for all the money in the world. Parking is a complete nightmare. Getting to the front entrance by car if your not familiar with the area is much the same - maybe I'm missing out on some car park somewhere but I've yet to spot one. Nothing the hospital as such can do about this, but parking is expensive and while you can get reimbursement for transporting a regular outpatient etc you can't when stuck visiting an impatient daily for a few weeks and having to pay in the region of £20 a day for little over an hour or two because you live in a different borough but its the hospital they have brought family to because its can serve them best for their needs. Never mind the congestion charge on top! Had I not two small kids to drag with me in the freezing comd I'd have just used public transport and left my car at work each day to pick up on the way back.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely architecture
Experiencia positiva: History of a millennium old hospital where Drs.like William Harvey who invented circulation of blood spent their life and necessarily must be good.
Experiencia fantástica: Fatastic hidden germ for the city of London. Bart tour host by city of London guide is a must go, help you understand the place the history , the money also use to keep the 12century archive safe and alive . A must go place
Experiencia positiva: A small but nice museum on how the hospital was founded and medical history
Experiencia fantástica: This is one of those wonderful little museums that abound in London which don't get that many visitors and are free to go into. St Bartholomew's Hospital is the oldest hospital in London to still stand n its original site and this museum tells its story from its founding in 1123 to the modern day. You can easily while a way an hour inside here (opens Tuesday to Friday 10am to 4pm) and there's plenty of interest. It was at Barts Hospital that Holmes and Watson met and they display the plaque that commemorates this historic meeting together with the first words spoken between them in A Study In Scarlet. But a major highlight is the glimpse you get of the staircase of the Grand Hall, the walls of which were painted by the 18th century artist William Hogarth. The detail is incredible. Hogarth actually used patients who were being treated in the hospital at the time and, such was his eye for detail that modern day doctors can still diagnose some of their conditions just by looking at these wonderful painting. A must for all those who seek secret London.
