🗣️ Museo del Comunismo: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Detailed to the point of depressive, but gives a lot of information in a very digestible format, and keeps you interested from beginning to end.
Experiencia fantástica: The Museum of Communism in Prague is one of the best museums I have ever visited. It will open your eyes to the hardships that the Czechs experienced under Communism for more than a generation. The Iron Curtain and the Soviet Union’s domination of freedom-loving people in Eastern Europe were sad legacies of Franklin Roosevelt’s miserable diplomacy at the Yalta Conference. Few U.S. historians are willing to admit these facts. What a terrible injustice to foist on the Czech people, compounding Neville Chamberlain’s idiocy at Munich! The Czechs were as much victims of appalling diplomacy by Western leaders as they were of Communism’s miserable flaws. Please visit this museum to learn about how horrible Communism was, how the Czechs and other peoples suffered, and learn the lesson that we should all take away: Never again!
Experiencia fantástica: Some may argue that the arrangement of these artifacts and evidence indicates a certain bias, but I wholeheartedly dissent from this viewpoint. The museum simply presents events as they occurred in the past. It's a widely accepted fact that communism was a catastrophe in every country it was implemented. This includes the Czech Republic, where the collapse of communism eventually led to freedom of speech, which ironically allows one to express opinions about perceived bias.
Experiencia fantástica: Small museum.. maybe only a 15-20 min stroll with some instagramable scenes for a casual visit. .. but if you like reading about history, this is 1-2 hours of serious insight into various aspects of life under communism. Topics cover everything from politics to sports to manufacturing to methods of the police state. Text is accompanied by images and there are some objects on display too. There is an additional section in the end on the Prague spring and eventual fall of communism. Advice: have a meal before your visit. It’s a lot of reading.
Experiencia fantástica: A very well laid out museum with a full story of Czech communist history. Nice displays.
Experiencia fantástica: This is a relatively small museum, but it is very well curated and tells a moving story about Czech's history during the communist dictatorship. I cried at this museum, it was really touching.
Experiencia fantástica: It is a good place to check out and doesn't take a lot of time if you have a lot you want to see in Prague. The exhibits are designed well. You get a sense of the impacts that communism had on the lives of every day people. Children should see this museum to see that communism is horrible and a bad idea.
Experiencia fantástica: We were a group of American college students and two professors, and we had Pavel as a guide. It was fascinating to hear a first person perspective of living under communism in Prague. I loved him as a guide: he made our visit much more enlightening.
Experiencia fantástica: Since growing up under communism, I was keen for our child to understand what it meant. This was a great and balanced representation of those times and I felt it showed well the happenings around the world too which put it in context
Experiencia fantástica: Provides all the information on the Czech "experience" under the USSR. Highlights the Czech spirit - not only just of 1968 spring - but throughout the entire "lost 40 years" of Communism
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent museum showing life in Czechoslovakia with communism. I enjoyed this one more than most history museums. Took about 2 hours to ready everything, but it was fascinating.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum with a rich collection of pieces about communism. Really enjoyed the different rooms, text panels, and videos. All displayed in a modern fashion. Definitely worth the price.
Experiencia fantástica: Brilliant look at Czech life during the communist rule and how grim it was for the people who had to go through it. Lots of displays and plenty of information. Definitely worth a visit
Experiencia positiva: A great deal of detail all provided by 70 individual written postings throughout the museum. I loved the depth of information given but, after a day of walking miles of cobblestone streets, I did not enjoy standing next to each wall panel to read the history. Go with fresh feet and plan on spending time reading the history. The historic images and items were a nice break from the written information but I'm afraid that most of the information provided would be basic to anyone who has studied the history of communication in Czechoslovakia.
Experiencia fantástica: Very detailed and easy to follow curation. Strong photography and narratives throughout that tell the story of communism in eastern Europe.
Experiencia fantástica: Super interesting! We spent 4 hours learning about history of Czech Republic through 20th century and especially the communist time. It's mostly reading, almost not interactive and few things to see, but the text are interesting and in a very logical order. There are a few videos to add a bit more context to the reading. If you skip some parts or go fast it's probably doable in an hour, but it's worth taking the time to read everything.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum, with interesting point of view but be prepare to read. It’s gonna take 2 hours to visit it well. Only English and Czech texts. Loved it.
Experiencia fantástica: Great insight into the history of communism of Czecho-slovakia and their relationship to the soviet union. Today there are still remainders of the communistic rule of the country such as the metronome monument.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved it, also explains a lot about the history of the country. A lot of text but also some pretty sweet exhibits to visualise the era. Can’t get my head around the fact that people are complaining that the tone is “not neutral” as the museum explains, millions died. I notice no one complains about exhibits in Auschwitz “not being neutral”.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a big and intriguing story about the past in Czech Republic. Many small stories and objects to see. Also some fascinating stories from people. I would suggest adding more chairs close to the stories told by some people, considering some would take 5+minutes, which might be hard for some older people. Still highly recommend giving it a visit, especially if you are into history
Experiencia fantástica: Great Museum! Very interesting history and facts. It truly brings to life the spirit of Communism. Maybe a little biased to the West but that's understandable. Definitely visit if you have the time.
Experiencia fantástica: Good place to visit, a bit pricey. I would definitely recommend to spend like 2 hours there and read some very interesting information about communism in Prague, also available to watch some videos and take cool pictures. Five stars to this place just because it's one of the best museum's I ever visited.
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic museum. Well laid out, visually pleasing and very informative. It's an interactive museum which is great for all ages, really. Gives a great history lesson via testimonials, photos, film, art and of course words. Learnt an enormous amount of Czech/Communist history.
Experiencia fantástica: Brilliant musesum! A bit expensive, but definetly worth a visit. Even if you are not a fan of history, if will tell you everything you need to know about communism, especially in Czeckoslovakia. Stories from everyday life, objects, furniture, jobs, the regime..... this place is probably the best to start your Prague tour, since it gives you the insight to this beautiful country.
Experiencia fantástica: A really fascinating and important place of Czech history. I recommend everyone who is in Prague to visit the Museum of Communism, because it explains a lot of Czech history. The museum itself is really well made with fascinating things of old times (uniforms, old stores etc) in display. All in all a very nice Museum which conveys the time of Communism in the Czech Republic very well!
Experiencia fantástica: Must do Prague Museum!!! A real lesson of history, plan at least 4 hours for the visit. If you are a coffee fan at the entry they give a free coffee ticket for the coffee shop of the museum. The great exhibition and objects exposed will make you feel the real life in the communist area.
Experiencia fantástica: I love museums, but it is not every day I give one 5 stars. I actually read every little plaque & sign for every exhibit here. And there are a lot of exhibits. You could wander through here in probably 30 minutes and have a good time learning about the Czech history of Communism. Or you can spend more than 1 hour getting an even better understanding of that period in time and how the Czech Republic fit in and also have a better understanding of who the Czech people are.
