Experiencia fantástica: You can pay just 100¥ to enter just the garden which has a wide grass area that is perfect for a picnic on a sunny weekend afternoon.

Experiencia fantástica: Its an excellently detailed art-deco building - everything from the woodwork to the grates to the ceiling tiles to the tapestry to the ... well, you get the picture. You can easily spend the best part of a couple of hours just noodling around the place!

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend! During my visit, the museum exhibited different pieces of Finnish glass art. And while, at first, I was a bit sceptical (I am not particularly invested in glass art), the exhibition was wonderful! The building itself is worth a visit, and the art pieces were arranged beautifully in the stunning rooms. The connecting park is wonderful to spend your time after admiring exhibitions. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating place the reminds me a lot of back home in Europe. I was surprised the private rooms are smaller than my room in my home country There's lots of info as well. But it's as hot as a European house. So check your clothes if you go here. You can leave your luggage in lockers behind the entrance for 100円. Parking is 1500円。

Experiencia fantástica: One of my favourite museums in Tokyo! Seasonal exhibitions that fit in with the architecture of a historic house. There‘s also a wonderful Japanese garden next to the house that you can visit. Generally quite a calm atmosphere and it hasn‘t been crowded during my two visits.

Experiencia fantástica: Lovely house and garden. Well worth a visit if there's an interesting exhibition on.

Experiencia fantástica: Great experience at this historic Art Deco landmark! Museum is located in Minato. Superb history of Prince Asaka Yasuhiko and his family. Once was the residence of the Prime Minister. Later designed by photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto. Teien is defined as Japanese Garden with beautiful flowers, plants, and sculptures. This tranquil place has a rich history but can easily get lost in nature. I highly recommend a visit to this place if ever in Japan.

Experiencia fantástica: Nice, calm place to walk around, have a picnic on a lawn or run around with children. Art museum rotates exhibitions relatively often. Some of them are better than others but I would consider them as a bonus to a beautiful garden and museum building itself. P.s. I've been here many times at different time and weekdays and never garden has been overcrowded.

Experiencia fantástica: I attended an exhibition in the former house of Prince Asaka Yasuhiko turned museum. It is a grand place.

Experiencia fantástica: This museum was interesting to me for a few reasons. First, it is an impressive mix of Western and traditional Japanese architecture. It is also a structure that illustrates how quickly Japan embraced many aspects of the West, particularly in how influential Western architects were in this transformation. There is a display that deals with the architect who designed the residence, Henri Rapin. The residence is designed in the Art Deco style. The museum is adjacent to the Institute for Nature Study a 49.5 acre wilderness park, the purpose of which is to preserve the condition of the ancient Musashi Plain that once lay to the west of Tokyo. This park is beautiful and it was a very pleasant and peaceful oasis in Tokyo.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful Art Deco building that is new used as a museum. Really worth the visit even just for the building itself if you like architecture.

Experiencia fantástica: Built in 1933 with a traditional Japanese tea garden of maples, wisteria, "sazanqua" winter camellias, a pond, rivulets, stone bridges and lanterns and tea pavilions as the royal residence of Prince Asaka, this small palace is a splendid example of Parisian-style Art Deco, which the prince and princesses loved during the time that the prince was recovering from an accident while on duty in France; and just the building itself is worth the short trip by subway or JR train from Meguro Station. Also formerly used as a State Guesthouse it is beautifully tended and was recently refurbished to be wheelchair accessible with ramps and an elevator, the breath-taking interior decor with fine works, such as Lalique's white porcelain fountain-lamp, Japanese turn-of-the century Western-style paintings and bold new Japanese lacquer installation pieces are complemented by exquisite changing exhibitions through the year. A good Western-style restaurant, coffee/tea shop and 2 museum shops are attached.

Experiencia fantástica: Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum is an art museum supported by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Art Deco building was used as a residence by Prince Asaka Yasuhiko, the Prime Minister and also as the State Guest House. The museum reopened after extensive renovation in November 2014. Address 5-21-9 Shirokanedai

Experiencia fantástica: Most beautiful e elegant park View in Tokyo. So charming design.

Experiencia fantástica: A small-ish museum but very well kept. It used to be the home of a formal Prince, whom had heavy European influence (particularly due to his extended stay in France, in the 1920's). He loved it so much he built it with French style and collected lots of artifacts from that time. We enjoyed the walk both inside the museum and outside on the lawn. Again, it's very well kept. Wife loved landscaping and originally mistook this to be a chance to visit a museum about landscapes (the word "teien" means landscapes), but we had a good visit after all.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful art deco mansion with rolling art and culture exhibitions. A great snapshot of Tokyo in the 1920's and the modernisation agenda of its rulers. Also enjoy the lush manicured gardens containing a few permanent sculptures and installations.

Experiencia fantástica: Coolest art museum in Tokyo. Fun. Go. Stop reading reviews. I'm serious. Go. Pretty nice garden too (but if you're looking for a nice garden, go to Yamamoto-Tei.)

Experiencia fantástica: It's very modern but has a taste of Art Deco. All the staff know well about this building, it's history and the decorations. They kindly explained me deeply and also answered all my questions. I had a great time here. You should come.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a great place to visit. You get to see how a prince lived in his mansion, while seeing great art work of Kisling. Worth the price.

Kenji 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: I think this is one of the most magnificent art deco in the world. It is very unique as a case that a house for royal family was build with this style and that its construction was lead by the owner, princess herself who was fascinated in art deco, therefore you can see the best quality of the materials are used in every single piece. You’ll be also amazed for how such a wonderful art deco was created by European art deco designer who had never been to Japan, Japanese architects who had never seen the real art deco in Europe and the princess who only knew both. It’s miracle collaboration. Don’t miss if you come to Tokyo.

Experiencia fantástica: LOVED this museum!!! what a brilliant find this place was. Very interesting house in stunning gardens which offered a welcome respite to hectic (but great) Tokyo. Interesting things on display and definitely worth the modest entry price which is similar to most museums in Tokyo. It's really worth spending a few hours here and going you out of your way to get here. Gorgeous friendly staff two and two restaurant cafes on site.

Experiencia fantástica: Great art-deco design with an expansive park surrounding it. The exhibitions are laid out across its multiple floors so you get almost two exhibitions for the price of one.
