Experiencia fantástica: First bonsai museum of the world. It’s really pretty I loved, it’s a great place to see old bonsais of up to 800 years. It show the history of it and they have a large amount of bonsais. If you love bonsais it really worth the visit. The staff is really nice too!

Experiencia fantástica: Incredible. Some beautiful examples of world class bonsai can be seen including one tree that was around 1,000 years old. Definitely worth the trip to Omiya. The neighborhood around the museum is also very quiet and charming and has many bonsai nurseries you can visit. Do yourself a favor and make a visit.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing museum. We learned a lot about bonsais. Information in English is available. A lot of nice and unusual souvenirs. We also took a private master class on making a bonsai (booked in advance), and it is the best memory from the trip.

Experiencia fantástica: Very beautiful and interesting. You can buy a little bonsai too!

Experiencia positiva: Museum is nice but I did not feel it is worth it, unless you are super interested in Bonsai Arts and history displayed in exhibition hall. The bonsai trees are beautiful but they are very limited in number. Entire museum can be seen in less than 30 minutes even if you walk capturing photo of each bonsai. May be I did not have that “viewpoint” but you get to see prettier trees in different nurseries around the nearby area for free..

Experiencia fantástica: A small kind of museum, you can see everything in 1 hour, they give you free parking for like 2 hours and in the parking area there is a small shop where you can buy bonsai. Very cheap museum but very beautiful

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing place if you want to see a 1000 years old bonsai. A very nice staff helping you to connect to the audio platform to listen to short stories about bonsais. You can also buy your own bonsai in an open air shop at the back of the museaum. I highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place calm and quiet . Easy I reach from Tokyo. Staff is friendly. Cafe inside the place is close due to covid. Very informative . Even the kids enjoyed the 1000 years old tree and all the information

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely worth going again and again to see each seasons trees. The tour guide was really wonderful they were so friendly, accommodating (our guide spoke English and French fluently), and passionate. they seemed so happy to get to show the place off. Even just strolling through you would have a wonderful time. We spent a long time in the garden with the current seasons bonsai viewing them from different angles stunned. It was exactly what we wanted. If you just want to breeze through there's only maybe 30 on display at a time but I found it very fun to spend a bit inspecting each one and we easily spent a few hours.

Experiencia fantástica: Loved it. Specially recommend to visit for people having taste in horticulture. There are variety of elegant bonsai trees. It is very convenient to reach from Tokyo. Some of the bonsais are older than 300 years. I saw one of the bonsai tree was 1000 year old! Completely amazing experience However there are no good food joints nearby. So plan accordingly

Experiencia fantástica: A small museum but it is very informative, there was an interesting introduction to the culture around Bonsai including three wonderful architectural examples of the traditional room styles where Bonsai might be displayed. The exhibits are bi-lingual in English and Japanese and there were English speaking staff. Photography is not permitted in most areas, if you are visiting please respect this, there is an area with many beautiful Bonsai where photography is permitted. Also there are very high quality postcards of many of the Bonsai in the shop for only ¥100. The outside garden is superb, on a sunny day you may wish to bring a sun hat as there is not much shade, although the garden is small it is packed with Bonsai of all shapes, I sat for around 30 minutes on the raised platform under a shady umbrella watching many dragonflies and butterflies near the large ornamental pond.

Experiencia fantástica: Really loved walking around the outdoor garden, the 2nd floor terrace and the excellent presentation inside with English guidance! They put a lot of work to making sure it’s a great experience for international visitors and the trip out here is worth the visit. There’s a nice bakery by the station! It was raining when I visited but strolling around the bonsai markets is nice on the weekends.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t recommend this place enough! The museum is lovely and so well designed! The staff are very friendly too, and there’s plenty of excellently translated English information. I cannot believe the entrance fee is so cheap! I really, really enjoyed my time here. Not only are the bonsai stunning, but the different environments (Japanese rooms, outdoor garden, etc) add a new dimension that I haven’t experienced elsewhere.

Experiencia fantástica: If you have even the slightest interest in Bonsai you MUST visit here, simply amazing! With Bonsai 350, 500 and even 1,000 year's old! Very friendly staff and perfectly clean and well presented. An amazing experience.

Experiencia fantástica: This place was so cool. We saw and learned about the history and art of bonsai. I've always been enamored with bonsai and always wanted to try for myself. The museum is pristine and it's truly apparent that these people love what they're doing. We saw trees from and young as 30 yrs old all the way up to the oldest. 380 years old. These plants are incredible to look at and quite frankly awe inspiring to think they have been around for almost 4 centuries. Take the time to come see this magical and peaceful museum and garden. It will be worth the trip from Tokyo (just a short 20-30 min train ride) and you won't be disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: Three weeks in Japan and this was a highlight! Wondered about the one hour out from tokyo station, however there is an above ground JR train that was interesting trip in its self. Easy to find. The staff spoke good english and were very kind. The exhibition we saw in November was mind blowing! sadly no photos. There are permanent trees you can photo, it was worth the trip for them alone. Certainly a "wow" experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Very cool. Affordable. Main exhibit explaining various aspects of bonsai has English translation. Amazing old trees! A place you'll want to visit in different seasons.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful museum full of true living art jobs, everything is very well maintained and presented in a beautiful way. The staff is really kind and dedicated. Also the museum has student discount, which is great.

Lynda Hogan (InSaitama) 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful displays some with a fascinating history. Their oldest bonsai is 1000 years old. Currently (Dec 2018) the blue dragon tree is in the small area where you can take photos. Most of the museum does not allow photography. The museum has volunteer English guides who will passionately and thoroughly explain many aspects of bonsai.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a fan of nature and plant person therefore 5 stars.... but if you're not the type then you'd be wasting your time and be bored out of your wits... But if you can appreciate nature then definitely give the bonsa museum a visit

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to see and learn about bonsai. The staff mostly speaks English and are very kind.

Experiencia fantástica: Obviously the art of bonsai isn't for everyone. But of you appreciate the beauty of landscapes made miniature, this museum has some wonderful specimens. There are explanations about the art form and different styles, and what consideration goes into sculpting a bonsai piece. I admittedly was also pretty amazed by two of the bonsai specimens in the photo area - Juun at 800 years old, and Todoroki at 1000.

Experiencia fantástica: I loved this place . Beautiful bonsai on display. Lot of maple bonsai which are unique. Some 300 year old bonsai are slightly big and hence kept on a turn table ...so that the plant is not disturbed. It's a unique experience and there are classes held too. CHK on their website.

Experiencia fantástica: #Kenny's Tour Day n Nigh' Bonsai Museum in Saitama City is the venue No.10, which I wouldn't disclose to other people. Must be kept SECRET ! Those, however, want to know what all about BONSAI had better come n see once in your life as you will see why the art of nature is so beautiful ... it's "! Vale la Pena ! Kenny @Justavi

Experiencia fantástica: For just 300 yen, this is a great chance to learn about bonsai history, and how you can grow a bonsai and display it. There's also a decent sized exhibit, but most of it can't be photographed. Lots of English signs to help out foreigners too.

Marc Müller 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Culture and tradition. Very nice staff in this museum. Bonsai...very very beautifull..some bonsai are older than 1000 years. Timeless experience for ages old art of cultivating bonsai.

Saurabh Bhide 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Very well organised and beautiful bonsai art museum. Some of the bonsais were more than 500 years old. You can also buy wide variety of bonsai from their shop and they also conduct a workshop for bonsai art. Prior reservation is required. Best season to visit the museum would be spring or autumn. Don't go in winter as almost all of the trees are leafless.

Vy Bui 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Nice little museum that taught me a lot about Bonsai and its history. There is also an outdoor exhibition of bonsai with some dating from 300 years back. However, you are not allow to take pictures in most part of the museum. I also only spent 1.5h in Omiya. Ticket price is super attractive - plus you get discount for being a student. Overall, a great place located not to far from Tokyo (40' via JR line to Saitama).

Lyssette Herrera García 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: There are real bonsais from 150 years old to the 500 years or more! It's beautiful to see. Small bb it with very good information. The he sights from the train station to the museum makes your tour adorable. Walk to enjoy it.

Steffen Annfinsen 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: The museum had an impressive collection of really old and small trees (about 50 total), ranging from 30 to 1000 years old. Definitely worth the 300 yen entrance fee.

chrisiv1000 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely worth visiting this phenomenal bonsai collection, as it's a quick trip from most of Tokyo. If you have a day, it would be very nice to spend a day wandering around the neighborhood, know for its bonsai art, and then to stop by Omiya Park. It's very pretty but much less crowded typically than many of the bigger parks in Tokyo.

Taap Poudpongpaiboon 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: You should go during autumn to see colors from the bonsai. Should be more beautiful.
