If you have the pleasure of visiting you will truly be immersed in wartime Brisbane, with plenty of insightful information and objects on display. Make sure to take the tour with the guide, as they are incredibly knowledgeable!

Experiencia fantástica: Did a self-guided tour as part of Brisbane Open House 2023. Access is via a call button on the door facing Edward St and the concierge took us up in the elevator. The museum is small but packed with interesting artefacts from the period when Gen. Douglas Macarthur was commanding the allied forces in the WWII Pacific theatre. The office used by the general has been restored and even features the burn mark on his desk where he apparently knocked out his pipe.

Experiencia fantástica: Went with my dad when we were in Brisbane in June. He really geeked out because his grandfather was MacArthur's roommate at West Point. He told everybody that would listen and lucky for him, they all seemed pretty interested as well. While he talked to the director, I had a wonderful one on one tour with one of the staff. She was very knowledgeable and also had relatives that were part of the war. It was one of my favorite museum visit I've had. Thanks to the staff of the MacArthur Museum. Awesome trip!

Experiencia fantástica: Hearing about General McArthur from my dad as a child to living in McArthur Chambers. And finally!!! Visiting the museum was and is the cherry on top. Lots of informative reading, a couple of videos to watch and displays. I loved the newspaper articles and seeing how Brisbane was affected during WW2. A somber visit. I'm glad there were other visitors too. Cheers to the volunteers who care for and are the caretakers of Australia's war time history. A great group of gentlemen. God bless em. The visit was a wonderful experience. Especially if like me you love to absorb as much information as possible on WW2 Pacific theater. *Lest we forget

Experiencia fantástica: Really interesting museum, but what really makes it shine over the rest it’s the friendly and knowledgeable staff! I haven’t been in another museum where the people were so passionate about their job and passing out their knowledge! I learned a lot more than I expected when I walked in, it’s certainly a hidden gem in the city! I was lucky enough to hear many interesting stories from Mr. McShane he was very nice and even spent time suggesting me other places to visit within Australia, the ladies at the front desk were super nice as well. Great experience I would certainly recommend giving this museum a try!

It's small touches like these where boutique museums really shine and volunteers make the visitor experience great. Too much info to take in on one visit so no doubt we'll be back and it's clear that they have more to share than their exhibition space allows. A truly unique slice of Brisbane's history.

Experiencia fantástica: I was delighted to find this museum, as it was unexpected in the centre of Brisbane. General Douglas MacArthur set-up the Allied HQ for the Pacific Campaign during WW2. The museum explores and explains the changes imposed on Brisbane by the demands of 750,000 allied troops billeted around the city. The museum is on the 8th floor, and compact but very interesting and worthwhile.

Experiencia fantástica: The Macarthur Museum is a little hidden gem in Brisbane CBD. The displays, including General Macarthur's desk, information about the Aussie women who married American soldiers, and the technology used for secret codes provide a very interesting and unique insight into life in Brisbane during WWII. The staff and volunteers are very helpful and the low entrance fee is very good value.
