🗣️ Museo de Bellas Artes de Montreal: Opiniones
Experiencia positiva: This is a fantastic place to visit. So many pieces of art. A tremendous experience. A must see experience. ... it was SUPER Busy! So many people, you couldn't linger long at any painting, and very noisy. Don't forget to visit all the floors and the second building by unground.
Experiencia fantástica: Entry is free on the first Sunday of each month. They have a wonderful collection of Canadian art.
Experiencia positiva: A lot of space i liked the artifacts. Signing not clear. Modern section was kind of ordinary.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to see some art and much better than the one in Ottawa. Here you can bring your kids without any problem.
Experiencia fantástica: Great spot to visit when in Montreal! Have so many exhibits with amazing art. Loved seeing the Tokaido series on display
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to visit with kids or without. It’s a fairly large and well spaced museum. So have your walking shoes on.
Experiencia negativa: The Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal, is a fine example of how many millions spent on buildings old and new can still result in a once satisfactory, at times even distinguished, art collection, being rendered inaccessible. On a recent visit if we had not consulted a handbook of the collection purchased many years ago during a previous visit, we could have been excused for thinking that the Museum simply owned few works worth seeing, particularly of Western European art. While the Canadian architect Moshe Safdie acquitted himself reasonably well with his design for Ottawa's National Gallery, his subsequent building for Montreal is nothing but a hot mess and the wealthy donors and connected museum officials who approved it should have been driven out of town. The new building provides unsatisfactory spaces for art and the people who come to see it, and its underground concourse linking to two older buildings across the street also used by the Museum is as unattractive as it is confusing to navigate. The abject failure of the Museum's management when it comes to space utilization was abundantly clear on a recent visit when having had to enter through the abysmal Safdie disaster one then needed to descend two levels, ask kind staff for directions to decipher how to cross under the street, then take two escalators, and finally walk up the tremendously unwelcoming set of steps in the original gallery building to reach the special exhibit (and of course reverse this journey to exit through a building that apparently offered nothing else for visitors, we couldn't even locate a WC!). Once there, the works on loan from the Phoebus Foundation had only minimal labels that failed in both their educational and documentary functions, and the works from the Museum's own collection that had been variously inserted added little, serving primarily to emphasize that they should have been in their own galleries! While unlike the Museum's missing collection of European art, Canadian works were on display, their placement into awkward, crowded rooms over multiple levels of a former church inadequately celebrated both the art and the historic building housing it (in stark contrast to Ottawa's fine installation of Canadian artistry). Works from other parts of the world, including Africa, Asian and early Americas, are scattered through a darkened maze of spaces in Safdie's building, and even with effort provide a very poor introduction to the great cultures that created them. Years ago the Museum made a simple folded paper Map available to visitors, but despite having tremendously expanded its physical foot-print in the intervening years, no such aid could now be found. One foundational principle of museum work is to make the creations it displays accessible, and at this Montreal has abysmally failed. We hadn't been back to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in many years, and after this visit we may literally never both to return. If you want to visit a great fine art museum don't stop in Montreal.
Experiencia fantástica: Incredible art gallery, once of the best in the world. You’ll need a few hours minimum to see it all. The layout is a little confusing, so make sure you ask for directions to see all the various buildings. My tip, use the elevators by the main entrance.
Experiencia negativa: I went on a Wednesday as museum is open till 9 but had no idea that the permanent exhibition will be closed after 5 . I visited three collections ,I loved Wanda Koop the best, the second was a Japanese collection of print works showing a history and culture of Japan in early times and the third was paintings of Flemish artists back in 16 and 17 century which I do not like at all.
Experiencia fantástica: Great collection of art. The ticket is an all-day pass to the different buildings that are part of the museum. The ticket for disabled people is at a great discount!
Experiencia negativa: Visiting Montreal for work, so came here on a Wednesday when it’s open late and was very disappointed. Half of the museum is closed. Things I wanted to see were “temporarily unavailable”. Was completely filled by the nice building you see in the picture. You can’t even enter that building through the front door!
Experiencia positiva: Great architecture. Decent artwork. Not top, but museum worthy.
Experiencia fantástica: The Art Hive is such a lovely activity & space! Try out art media you've never tried, and get tips and tricks on how to use them from their wonderfully helpful staff and a local artist. Will definitely be going back!
Experiencia fantástica: Nice collection. Enjoyed the modern works. The Flemish collection was eye catching as well.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful museum in the heart of Montreal. The museum was huge, and there were so many things to see. Totally worth the ticket price!
Experiencia fantástica: I recommend starting on the top floor and going down. There are some stunning pieces. So many items from all over the globe. I just wish the lighting was better in some areas so you can enjoy the artifacts properly.
Experiencia fantástica: Really great and MASSIVE museum for lovers of fine arts, contemporary and many more! Free for those under 25 and it's a great place to spend the day when you need AC from the hot summer heat
Experiencia negativa: I'm sure it's nice but... Had a small backpack which they would not let me carry inside. Had all my family's passports and I did not want to chance check it n. Frustrating part is they were letting in women with purses / bags bigger in size than mine. Offered to let them search my bag but they didn't want to. FYI max size is 30 x 40cm. Just disappointed that they were not more understanding and had subjective ways of applying their own rules.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a lovely experience, and I recommend reserving a whole day to explore all of the museum's exhibitions.
Experiencia positiva: The Museum staff was very professional and very friendly. They had some nice exhibits going on. The wonky thing was the Café closed at 3 PM and they had posted that the museum was open till 9 PM but in reality only a small part of it was open till 9 PM. I come from a customer service orientation of operation, so it was a little frustrating to read online that the museum was open till 9 PM, make plans based upon that, and then get there and find out you only get to see this small part now. As a nonprofit, I’m sure some economic driver to why they did that but it just seemed weird to say we’re open till nine and then, not really mean that.
Experiencia fantástica: This place is huge. Stop and rest and eat something halfway through. Beautiful museum, lots of cool art. Don't bring your water bottle you'll have to check it at the coat check.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum, has three separate buildings connected by underground tunnels
Experiencia positiva: It was a very pleasant visit, Tokaido prints and Saints, Sinners, Lovers and Fools exhibitions.
Experiencia positiva: Definitely a place to visit! Flemish art exhibition; Hiroshige “53 stations of Tokaido” was incredible; the classical European masterpieces - impressionists etc. - great collection. The one thing is very much NOT RECOMMENDED: “The Arts of the world”, 4th floor of the main building. Probably an “innovative” idea to mix items from the ancient times with the very modern items and installations. Creates a complete mess in the perception of the exhibition. Very tiring to read every description as they ate all mixed. Those who’re not very into history/archeology which is a few %s of the population, will loose the hope to understand the concept and to obtain any knowledge of the exhibited items in about 10 min. Skip this part.
Experiencia fantástica: Incredible exposition, scenery and thematics. Huge recommendation
Experiencia fantástica: This is the 2nd time we've been to this museum. It never disappoints. Buy your tickets in advance and save $3.00 per ticket. This is a non-profit place so be nice and offer a donation.
Experiencia fantástica: When in Montreal, it must be in your top 3 things to do! I'll definitely be back. The exhibits were beautifully curated, a wonderful all around experience for all ages.
Experiencia fantástica: Always love to visit the museum and see what new exhibits are up. It was so nice to bring my father for the first time, he really enjoyed it.
Experiencia fantástica: One of the best art museums in Canada! The exhibitions are world-class. It's a true pleasure every time my husband and I pay visit here!
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is massive, taking up several buildings (connected). The collection includes some amazing modern and contemporary art. Unfortunately I only had a day, so it simply wasn't possible to see everything, so I hope to make a return trip soon. The world art section is interesting in how it takes a thematic approach that examines the role of colonialism in the collection of "exotic" art and troubles our ideas about what objects are art and which artists matter. It's a thoughtful way to curate a difficult and ethically fraught collection. I would be interested to know whether there is also a process to return sacred items. The 19th century and later galleries include a number of significant artists, particularly French painters. I did not see the earlier periods. Next time, I hope to spend time in the Québec pavilion. The restaurant currently has only packaged food options such as sandwiches and salads. Given the food scene in Montréal and the scale of the museum, I was surprised. This may partly be due to the restaurant being located where it can only be accessed with a ticket rather than also being able to draw a larger crowd.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful buildings - a "must visit" in Montreal!
Experiencia fantástica: 10/10 definitely recommend visiting here. food, service, vibe + aesthetic is so good. even the music ! love it here :)
Experiencia positiva: A very solid collection, especially their modern art, and the Flemish exhibition was excellent. However, the museum is extremely hard to navigate and not intuitive. Some sections can only be accessed via elevator, some have poorly constructed steps. It really detracts from the overall experience, as it feels cobbled together vs. a singular museum
Experiencia fantástica: Wide variety of art from Canada and Europe. You could easily spend a whole afternoon exploring every floor. Staff was very nice. They noticed my toddler needed her bottle so they suggested of the bottom floors where it's nice and quiet for my kid. I really appreciated their consideration.
Experiencia fantástica: Nice museum, It's free on every first Sunday of the Month.
Experiencia negativa: The museum is pretty much like other museums in other cities around the world. Exhibitions are decent, facilities are good enough for customers to enjoy the experience. Overall, not a bad experience when it came to enjoying art. However, we lost our umbrella there, and this is the reason why we put down this terrible one-star review. The day we visited was a rainy day in Montreal. We had to drop off our bags anyway but the staff refused to take the umbrella and told us we can put the umbrella near the tickets selling counter. It’s out in the public, not inside the counter where there are staff looking over it. We understood if we put it out there, it has a risk to be either stolen or mistakenly taken. So, that was the context. What got us feeling not happy about this is that while we were waiting for the manager to come out to file a complaint, we saw some customers took out the umbrella together with the bags they dropped off and some customers brought the umbrella out from the facilities with them. Basically, there is a miscommunication for the customers to know what they can do and can’t do. If the staff refused to take umbrellas, then why other customers can and we were told not to? And how much effort to add a few words to let customers know that they can either put the umbrella at the public area or bring with them if they don’t want to take risk? We thought we can’t bring the umbrella with us in the exhibition. You may think we’re so serious about just an umbrella, yeah if it’s just a normal one we can buy any where in Walmart or any supermarket. No! This umbrella was a souvenir we got in Ottawa before traveling to Montreal. So, there is an emotional attachment to us regarding the umbrella. We did file a complaint as how we think it should be a procedure needed to be done. The manager (Richard, If I remember correctly) was good at customer service, and understanding but the staff at the belongings dropping off area is such a disappointment. We are also disappointed at the people who took our umbrella, whether or not it is intentional but unfortunate incident like this could be avoided if the staff is trained to communicate with customers better. Having a big number of customers coming in and being busy is not an acceptable excuse for a lack of well-trained customer service communication. We were told there were quite a few customers experienced same umbrellas lost like us, so is it wrong to say the fault is on the responsibility of the facility to keep the properties of the customers? I don’t think it’s logic to blame to customers. Who would be blamed? Us or the people who took other people properties away without permission? Hope they do better in the future. A lot of places we traveled around can put a tag on the belongings that can’t fit the lockers to make sure customers belongings are well kept, no matter how valuable the items are. Ultimately, good art exhibition, terrible customer service!
Experiencia positiva: It's a huge museum with scores of paintings and sculptures spread over multiple floors in two separate buildings. Spent almost 2 hours there and still couldn't complete it. It was near closing time. If you really want to explore the whole museum, better to start early. The attached gift shop is excellent. Other than the typical items expected in such places, it has also reproduction of numerous paintings from the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: I bought a ticket on the museum website, which saved me $3. This museum is vast! You need several days to take it in fully. I only had 2-3 hours and I did my best. The displays were all excellent! I learnt so much. I even participated in an art activity (collage-making). I was the only adult doing it (the rest of the participants were all children of different ages) but the staff absolutely did not mind, and were in fact very encouraging. I’d love to go back!
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice exhibitions. Can take at least a couple hours to see everything in detail. Discounted price on Wednesday evenings.
Experiencia fantástica: Great collections! I absolutely recommend it for visiting. First Sunday of the month the entrance is free of charge
Experiencia fantástica: Purchase online or at the museum. Free for Quebec residents on the first Sunday of each month. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., extended to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. Check large bags at the cloakroom. Small bags subject to inspection. No eating, drinking, or flash photography. Accessibility: Notify in advance for special needs. Hand sanitizers are available.
Experiencia positiva: 2 pavilions closed...which are in the old historic buildings! And it is not easy to navigate in this museum even with a paper map. For the arts exposed they are really great and bring you in another era
Experiencia positiva: I did not enter this museum specifically for Giants of Modern Art exhibition (Henry Moore and Georgia O'Keeffe), but found the whole experience enjoyable. O'Keeffe was influenced by one of my other favorites Vassily Kandinsky, as I found out via curator's narrative next to her Blue Line masterpiece. Don't skip the Pop Art or Inuit sections as there are several treasures there. Gift shop could have been from any museum: lacking were several contemporary pieces in permanent collection deserving a place in commemoration.
Experiencia fantástica: Such a wonderful place, filled with arts from around the world. This may be the most extensive collection I’ve ever ever seen. I loved the Art of One World display, with artifacts from multiple cultures. The museum is huge, with 4 different building, encompassing massive collections of art pieces throughout centuries, from ancient time to modern time. The facility is clean, restrooms and water station is available. The museum has so many programs for the public. There is usually a fee but they’re free for the public on the first sunday of the month, which was amazing.
Experiencia fantástica: I went during the Saints, Sinners, Lovers and Fools exhibit (on until October 2024) and it was incredible. The curation is very well done. Please note that you have to walk up a large set of stairs to enter the exhibit, which seemed unexpected for some patrons. Unfortunately the sculpture garden was ‘wrapped’ for future seasonal landscaping, a primary reason for my visit, and there was no notice about this online to help manage my expectations. Depending on how much you enjoy museums, I would give yourself the entire day here. I was there for about 6 hours, including a short coffee + croissant break, and I only saw 2/4 buildings. Wear comfortable shoes, and don’t bring a heavy bag, or a purse at all - they will request you wear it on your front, so you don’t knock anything over. Unencumbered is best!
Experiencia fantástica: The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal is huge, with lots of pavilions and a fascinating variety of exhibitions and art from different times and backgrounds. We had an amazing time exploring everything. Parking was a bit tricky, so I'd suggest taking local transportation. The museum has several floors, and there are elevators to help you get around. Tickets are usually about $20 and can be bought in advance or at the reception, but the best part is that it's free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month. It's definitely worth a visit!
Experiencia positiva: The O'Keeffe and Moore exhibit was fantastic. The museum has a wide array of art. Parts of the museum were closed for renovations, but there is still plenty to see.
Experiencia fantástica: The Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal offers an immersive and enriching experience that captivates visitors from the moment they enter its architecturally stunning pavilions. As you explore its extensive and diverse collections, you are transported through time and across cultures, encountering masterpieces from classical antiquity to contemporary art. The museum's dynamic temporary exhibitions and engaging educational programs provide fresh perspectives and interactive learning opportunities for all ages. Complementing the visual feast, the museum also features a concert hall, a cinema, a serene sculpture garden, delightful dining options, and a unique museum shop, making each visit a holistic and inspiring cultural adventure.
Experiencia fantástica: This museum took my breath away. I didn't expect it to be much and boy, was I wrong. At every turn, there was either a work by one of the great or an incredible new work of art. I could have spent a couple of days walking around, easily! What an absolute gem!
Experiencia fantástica: One of the best museums of art history. I’ll recommend it even if you’re not a big arts fan. The tour can take somewhere between 2-3 hours.
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic! Sent to see the Georgia O'Keefe and Henry Moore exhibit and it was lovely. Lovely Art Museum. Will definitely come back for more next time.
Experiencia negativa: I’ve been to this museum many times throughout my life to see different exhibits, having been born and raised in Montreal. However my recent visit and experience was not positive. I came with my sister and her fiancé to capture some pictures of them for their wedding photography, we purchased tickets and expected to stay for maximum 30 mins. For context, we are south Asian and my sister was dressed in traditional south Asian clothing for the occasion. From the moment we walked in, we felt targeted by Melanie who stopped us to ask many questions about what we were doing there and went out of her way to inform we can’t take any pictures or set up photography equipment (we did not bring any equipment). Eventually we were not let in because of the real jasmine flowers in my sisters hair. There was no indication this was against the rules of the museum and no reason was given why or when this changed. There was no empathy or consideration and the entire ordeal made us decide not to stay. We felt very singled out and not welcome.
Experiencia positiva: Having been all around the world in art museums all around around the world I have to temper expectations. Even having done that, this was nearly disappointing. One Monet, one Picasso....certainly a nice floor of Flemish paintings. Though the museum is to have 3 buildings of items, one of which wasn't open currently and the other housing an exposition I wasn't interested to see. So the one remaining building has two floors that don't have items, rather educational areas. At this time, one building, 4 abbreviated floors of art for $40. While, in Montreal visiting, if it wasn't raining, I wouldn't have gone and would have confidently and happily saved $40.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful museum. Their current temporary exhibits on Hiroshige and Georgia O’Keeffe were stellar!
Experiencia positiva: Decently nice museum with an exhibition that wasn't nearly as good as advertised. Pop art exhibit was the primary reason for our trip and an utter disappointment. Some nice works by artists like Monet and Basquiat, plus some others by artists we didn't know by name.
Experiencia fantástica: Nice place to spend an afternoon. Not crazy about the modern art section, but the upper floors and exhibits are definitely worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: The MMFA is a beautiful space and easy to navigate. Their special and permanent collections are well thought out and moderated. Getting the tickets is fairly easy online. The only complaint I have is that since we were visiting the O'Keefe exhibit on the last weekend, it would have been nice is the hours of operation had been extended.
Experiencia fantástica: such a nice and cozy place to visit on a calm day! the exhibits were free to anyone under 21, which makes it great for an affordable little get-together with friends. i've been there ever since i was young and this place will always be a favorite spot to relax at. all their pieces (especially those in the building across the street) are gorgeous and timeless! the museum offers such a diverse variety of collections and exhibits that make the visit totally worth it!
Experiencia fantástica: Made a hour long pitstop at the museum and it was so worth it! For a small fee($7) I was able to leave my luggage at coat check which was a lovely reprieve from having to drag it around town all day. The staff here are fantastic! Very warm, welcoming, and informative. My friend and I sped through the O’Keefe and Moore exhibition, as well as the one on the entrance floor. People work to see! Incredible to have the opportunity to see such amazing art, even if only for an hour. Definitely plan more time if you want to see the whole thing. And cherry on top is that the buildings are beautiful as well!
Experiencia fantástica: A bit pricey for a city Art Museum. Was $50 for 2. But we really enjoyed seeing the building itself and the special w hi it of Georgia O’keefe and Henri Moore! Well curated and presented.
Experiencia fantástica: Museum is really big and some exhibitions changing. In last 6 months I have been here 4 times. Some activities are free. This time I have been there on first sunday or the month so yoy do not need to pay for entrance but for the new exhibition I needed to pay. So much people on this day for me is a little to much to be able to fully enjoy. Thank you for this culture centre. To buy tickets online is to complicated for non french speakers.
Experiencia fantástica: Large complex of galleries. Make sure to study the map because there so many buildings and levels stitched together it's easy to miss a gallery. Great collection of art. Their exhibit mixes old and new in the same space. They had OKeefe and Moore exhibit when we came and it was amazing! There is also a museum store where you can get prints, posters, and lots of souvenirs. FREE coat check!
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is wonderful. Very kids friendly and easy to get to. Highly recommend to visit it when you are in town
Experiencia positiva: Very Nice Fine Arts Museum with quite some collections. A must visit if you are interested in arts.
Experiencia fantástica: Nice museum in the heart of downtown Montreal. We only went through one of the buildings. Interesting permanent exhibits and nice feature exhibits. Really enjoyed the Wanda Koop exhibit, O'Keefe/ Moore exhibit and the pop art exhibit.
Experiencia fantástica: Although we did not have an opportunity to actually visit inside the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, we did purchase tickets for a concert at Bourgie Hall, located across the street from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and a part of this fine Museum. The concert was entitled ‘Splendours of French Romanticism’ - a Tribute to Theodore Dubois. The 462-seat concert hall is housed in a Roman Revival church featuring stained glass Tiffany windows, archways and old church pews giving it a warm renaissance feeling. The acoustics at Bourgie Hall are amazing as well as the opportunity to experience top rate artists with venues offering recitals, chamber music, baroque and much more. An absolute treasure.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful exhibitions! I loved the 3rd floor so much. I believe I was able to see about 90% of the exhibitions, it was a great time.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum with many different styles of art. Always new interesring exhibit. And permanent collection rotates quite often.
Experiencia fantástica: This a must when visiting Montreal in my opinion. Plan to spend several hours because it’s almost impossible to cover completely in one visit. It’s getting pricey at $24 per adult.
Experiencia fantástica: Always a beautiful time! I’d recommend going if you like art museums. A wide selection of things to view for the price you pay to get in.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff were courteous & helpful. The displays were beautifully curated. The washrooms were clean. Free access to some of museum on first Sunday of the month. Access includes free coat and bag check-in.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a great museum! Many different levels of exhibitions with varying themes. Definitely recommend for those that enjoy modern art. I recommend 2-3 hours to get the full experience.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent collection! From ancient through contemporary, very impressive. The modern Canadian painting collection is quite impressive as is the world art collection. Takes time to see it all, numerous buildings and levels but easy to navigate and not overwhelming. Kids and art activities only on the weekends (website is not accurate). The current O’Keefe/Moore exhibit is excellent as is the Pop art installation!
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is favourite for our family. There are a lot expositions and picture. I like it.
Experiencia fantástica: Extraordinary arts. Exhibit is clean. Also there are personnel guarding per level and they are very helpful and approachable.
Experiencia fantástica: This place is magical, it has such a incredibly diverse variety of displays, art pieces. I truly enjoyed every second of my visit here, it does truly capture the Montreal experience. If you appreciate fine art or simply enjoy strolling around a place full of history this is your place to be. There are five to six floors for you to go through and check out, of which I really enjoyed seeing the historical artifacts. The first Sunday of every month is a free day for you to come drop by and check out this place which is why I gravitated toward coming by, however even if it wasnt free I would still come check it out. Overall, I had a blast and would highly recommend dropping by even if your not a big fan of art!
Experiencia fantástica: Bigger than it looks, but nowhere as big as the Louve or The Met. That being said, everything inside was carefully curated, each piece unique and exquisite. It contains many diverse and powerful pieces. Love this museum and will return.
Experiencia fantástica: Great art museum in multiple buildings. Loved how some of the rooms mixed art and artifacts from completely different centuries instead of having specific period rooms. Would go again and could spend a whole day.
Experiencia fantástica: Coming from NYC, I was totally blown away by this museum. The curation was absolutely spot on and well done. We visited Montreal on a whim and decided to come here. There was a Georgia O Keefe and Henry Moore exhibition. Absolutely amazing. Great museum. Totally worth a visit. There is also a cafe that serves various drinks.
Thanks a lot for your visit from NYC!
Experiencia fantástica: Price: discount for those under 30 years old. Prstty big and interesting Time: 3-4 hours!
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing place. More than 2 hours I enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend
Experiencia fantástica: Fun exhibits. Went on the first Sunday of the month so it was free. A lot of people but not packed.
Experiencia fantástica: The ticket c9st 25 dollars for every thing. Children until 20 can come for free Wednesday evening 12 dollars plus fees. Warm, safe place to meet friends and support each other by evening.
Experiencia fantástica: The Musée des beaux arts de Montréal (MBAM) stands as one of Montreal's premier cultural institutions, a veritable landmark renowned for its rich and diverse collections. Personally cherished since age 17 when I moved to the city (I'm now 51), my visits to MBAM have remained a source of consistent delight over the years. The museum's permanent collection never fails to impress, boasting a captivating array of artistic treasures. Among them, the sight of Mark Tansey's iconic "Action Painting" left me speechless, reaffirming the museum's status as a custodian of masterpieces.
Thanks for this heartwarming message and for your many visits over the years!
Experiencia fantástica: A really good place to pass the time, I really love all the exhibitions, 1st Sunday of every month is free, but the tickets overall are really affordable ✌
Experiencia fantástica: Clean and well organized museum. They have a coat counter with an attendant. Has a cafeteria. They accept credit/debit card. Stroller friendly stairs but also has a elevator. This activity is worth a day to spend easily to fully enjoy and engulfed the informations. The main building is closed as of now March 2024 for renovations but the two buildings are opened which all three are just connected by an underground passage.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a great time with friends roaming the different exhibits here. The museum is free for the general exhibits and there is an extra fee for the temporary exhibits. We did go to one of those and it was a very interesting deep dive into the featured artist's work and life. It was definitely interesting. Those are very focused of course so we did find it a little overwhelming by the end of our visit. The general exhibit halls in contrast are quite varied in their content and we only had time to visit about half of them. Lots of interesting and thought provoking pieces there. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit here. Museums are not my typical fair, but I did enjoy myself and would gladly return to take on the areas we missed in our last visit!
Experiencia fantástica: Very beautiful construction and exhibitions. Very child friendly. Staff super nice and polite to provide assistance! Will go back for sure!
Experiencia fantástica: I love this museum and I've been there twice. I think it's better to be there one full day because the museum is big.
Experiencia fantástica: I love going to MBAM! I get my tickets online to save time and I was so happy to enjoy the “art hive” workshop. Next time I’ll go and enjoy the full 3 hours (disclaimer: it’s free but you’ll need a ticket for headcount).
Experiencia fantástica: Nicely located in the Montreal downtown core and great exhibitions all around. Plenty of displays from artists around the world, a lot of art history to be learned and right at any Montrealers finger tips. Great for people of all ages! Entrance fees are reasonable and annual membership can be advantageous too.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing art museum to visit while in Montreal! I would definitely recommend allocating more time than you would think as three hours was not nearly enough to visit all three of the buildings here. We stuck to the main entrance hall pavilion and the attached Pavilion for Peace and it took us around three hours to walk through and appreciate it all. Some amazing pieces here so definitely want to make sure you don’t miss it, particularly the Cabinet of Curiosities on the 3rd floor of the Pavilion for Peace. Definitely my favorite room of the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic experience…easy to navigate the exhibits…would definitely go again
Experiencia fantástica: If you're 30 and under, be sure to sign up for a membership! (It's around $35/yr) You get unlimited access to the museum, among many other great perks. My favourite place to browse art for hours in Montreal.
Experiencia fantástica: I am so glad I visited. So many displays, lots to view. Interesting pieces and a ton of information to read about the artists
Experiencia fantástica: Nice way to spend the afternoon. Free admission today. Not very crowded for a rainy day which was unexpected. Very eclectic, with some really excellent pieces, especially some beautiful sculpture.
Experiencia fantástica: A museum full of wonders! If you’re a fan of art and history you will definitely enjoy visiting. Antiques gathered from all over the world. Paintings, statues, … Seeing the thinker statue was one of the best parts, and also we enjoyed watching the abstract paintings.
Experiencia fantástica: This was a beautiful Museum. I especially liked the floors with paintings from the 1600 - 1800s. I found those to be the most beautiful. I recommend going to the highest floor and working downwards if you want to maximize your time here, it's easy for time to fly by if you're not careful. Modern art is on the lower so I recommend skipping those floors if you are short on time.
Experiencia positiva: Came here to pass time. The museum is nice enough. I have been to so many museums. I guess I'm jaded at this point. The Beavers are everything. Most memorable and favorite painting.
Experiencia fantástica: Very cool art museum. While there are no super famous art pieces, I was able to see a Rembrandt, Picasso, DeKooning, Monet, etc..
