Experiencia fantástica: Love it. Very interesting.
Experiencia positiva: Alot on display Alot to learn / take in Great school trip
Experiencia fantástica: This is a wonderful museum that tells the story of black history in Ontario. Highly recommend a visit as this place is a hidden gem and gift to the community founded by sisters Carolyn and Sylvia Wilson.
Experiencia positiva: This is a great place for local history as much as Black history in the Great Lakes. Caroline and Sylvia have taken on a mammoth task with the help of other volunteers. The sheer number of artifacts they have amassed tells the story of struggle and success for settlement of Ontario. Self guided tour of the various pavilions at a more than reasonable rate! A little way off the main highway, but an absolute necessity for interest!
Experiencia positiva: The curators, Carolynn & Sylvia, were welcoming and a treasure trove of information. This isn't a small museum! It's 20 buildings containing historical artifacts from Africa to the local area. Expect to spend some time here.
Experiencia fantástica: Very impressive. Well thought out, eloquent displays. Very warm welcome. Friendly, engaging and very informative. We've been there before and will definately return with friends.
Experiencia fantástica: When I was a child in Thornbury in the 80's we were taught to "keep away from the Jamaican apple pickers" our entire childhoods. It was awful. These people were valuable members of our community who always kept an eye out for us and made the kids feel safe. It was the grown-ups who tried to instill this negative view of non-white people in us and to exclude these people in our own community. I am happy to see this museum exists and although I've moved away, I hope so much that the racial climate has changed in Thornbury and everyone is treated equally with respect. Most of the orchards in Beaver Valley would not be as successful as they are today without the hard work of those picking the fruit and doing the labour!
Experiencia fantástica: I can't recommend this enough. Check it out!!!
Experiencia fantástica: We really enjoyed all the history and artifacts shared at this museum. I am unaware of anything like this in Ontario, so it was such a gem to find and learn from.
Experiencia fantástica: A great museum. Interesting exhibits and friendly and helpful staff
Experiencia fantástica: Must see! A Grey County gem. Make sure you stop in all the buildings!
Experiencia fantástica: What fabulous collection of Black History memorabilia. A very moving experience. Lovely to meet Carolyn and her staff.
Experiencia fantástica: This is a hidden treasure in Clarksburg. A must for any visitor in the area. It's packed with historic displays, both insightful and, in some cases, heartbreaking.

Thank you so much for sharing such an important part of Black History right in our back yard. A must see for everyone. This will help us to better understand our history.

Experiencia fantástica: Awesomeness. A must visit. Beautiful country on Georgian Bay.
Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful museum about Black Canadian history.
Experiencia fantástica: What a hidden gem. Loved the themed rooms with period piece music playing. We danced in each room. But our absolute favourite was the gorgeous Underground Railroad hand embroidered map of North America. It’s stunning. While taking in its beauty and signicance, Sheffield’s very friendly museum guides taught us how to decode the Afghan quilt squares and flags that were used to communicate between those escaping to freedom and the safe houses they moved between. It was fascinating. I love it when things are hiding in plain sight...so the sleuth in me was delighted.
Experiencia fantástica: Oh my goodness. This place tells a whole story that reverberates through your soul. Artifacts, displays and documentation come together to tell the tales and map the journeys of Black people in this part of the world. The ability to walk from house to house provides the right amount of time to think about everything that you take in. And, along the way, the grounds contain antiques to help frame those experiences. Great museum for Canadians to learn about history. Special nod to the owners and holders of this history.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you so much for the tour and the knowledge that you shared with us. You have amazing displays and buildings. We spent hours reading and viewing all the artifacts. One trip through is not nearly enough to take it all in. We will certainly be back. Thank you again Carolynn Wilson.
Experiencia positiva: This was an opportunity to walk through a time of history often forgotten...with personal glimpses of the Sheffield family.

Experiencia fantástica: A suprise around every corner. This was a tour that shows the power of the human spirit to overcome, build and become despite unthinkable obstacles. This museum provides self guided tours showing artifacts of local and national and international black history.
