🗣️ Museo Judío de Londres: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: A lovely museum . Went on the last day of opening and bought a timed ticket . Very reasonable ticket charge. Plenty to see I enjoyed the experience
Experiencia positiva: I enjoyed the Jewish Museum, wanted to visit before it closed down/moved. The tour was full which was a pity. The displays were good, but I couldn’t help thinking that it wasn’t quite as good as other similar museums around the world. I’m hoping it’ll reopen and be even better.
Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating exhibits and very knowledgeable, approachable staff. Looking forward to visiting their new, larger location
Experiencia fantástica: A seriously interesting and enjoyable place to visit
Experiencia positiva: Closing permanently at the end of July, so hurry up!
Experiencia positiva: A little dark in some areas, and difficult to see display
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing museum! Went there on work experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. All staff are approachable and knowledgeable and are happy to help
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum. It’s very well organised
Experiencia fantástica: We took 30 year 9 history/RE students there a few weeks ago. Cannot fault all the staff that assisted - they were very helpful and our students really enjoyed the whole day.
Experiencia fantástica: A most interesting museum which I never knew existed until a recent visit to Krakow. I came a couple of weeks ago. They seem to have struck the right balance of friendly, helpful staff but also having the freedom for solitude and reflection on perusing the exhibits. I was fairly knowledgeable about Jewish history but not about the culture and religious practices. It was most fascinating to see a Mikveh and what it represented. I had never heard of the female cleansing ritual before. I enjoyed seeing the history of traditional Jewish occupations when they came to the UK and how they spent their leisure. Artefacts well displayed and articulated through word or vocally. The Holocaust exhibition distressing as it should be but concise and well expressed. Let us never forget. A visit to this museum much better than a trip I had planned to go to the cinema. So glad, I came hear instead. A charming cafe downstairs on the ground floor and a pause for thought before my departure. I've been telling friends to visit themselves. Thank you staff for an educational and inspiring visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Friendly staff. Interesting permanent collection. Somewhat cluttered in parts, due to the nature of the building/buildings being residential in the past? Saw the Kindertransport exhibition, very illuminating! I had heard of this museum many years ago, and am glad to finally have visited it.
Experiencia fantástica: Great staff! A tiny little museum that is full of information! You go in and learn tons about the culture and history! Great visit if you have an hour or two to spare!
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting. The museum deals with the history of the Jewish people in Great Britain since the 10th century, as well in Europe. A lovely visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Love this amazing and interesting place. Got caught up in the library which is so full of interesting and informative books with lovely comfortable and peaceful reading areas as well. Otherwise, it looked well presented and staff were professional, kind, gracious and helpful. Although not Jewish myself, I would love to go again and again, and soon. Lovely kind atmosphere
Experiencia positiva: this museum is a nice place for people who wants to learn about the jews. as a jew,it was nice to see the exhibition ,but the information wasn't much useful. History of jews in Britain was nice, but the 3rd floor exhibition of pictures that was when i was there (this floor seems to change from time to time) was boring for me at least. There is a class there, suitable for schools or universities that want to learn a bit about Judaism, but Judaism is much more than showed there...
Experiencia fantástica: We learnt a lot from our third visit to the Jewish Museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Whereas many other Jewish museums speak of the Jewish people as some sort of foreign or now gone group of people, this museums speaks of the Jews as a living, breathing, and still very much present part of British and world society. In addition, where other museums try not to fully acknowledge the history of antisemitism their country might have, this museum fully owns Britain's long and ongoing struggle with antisemitism and hate as a whole. You first learn about the vibrant culture of Judaism and its diverse variations from across the globe, then you dive into the long history of Jews in Britain, from the earliest communities right up to the present day. No matter your denomination or creed, it is a great place to visit that I would highly recommend!
Experiencia fantástica: Such a brilliant museum. Gives a brief introduction to the faith. The main part of the museum gives a brilliant insight into the stories and history of Jewish people in Britain, from the Normon conquest to modern day. There is a brilliant balance between the general history and personal experiences. It taught me so much I never knew. Also visited the exhibition "Jews, Money, Myth". So, so interesting and insightful! Wonderfully curated. There was printed texts on the walls of a conversation between the director and curator, giving insight into the reasons for what was exhibited and what was not and the reasons why. I would definitely recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: Good museum which has a concise section on the key aspects of Judaism as well as content on the history of Jews, with a particular focus on European and British Jews.
Experiencia fantástica: Very multimedia and interesting museum. You can listening story's or write your own manifest. you do not have feeling you are in museum, but taking a great journey with Jewish culture around the world:)
Experiencia fantástica: An excellent museum, so interesting and informative as well as very moving. Brilliant volunteers (thank you!), well worth the visit. Do go and see for yourselves.
Experiencia fantástica: I loved the “Jew, Money, Myth” exhibit. So well done and creative and informative. A must-visit! Plus, so close to many restaurants and walkable to Regents Park Canal.
Experiencia fantástica: Good insight into Jewish history. Very large section on London history some of which is good some of which is terrible (suffering, poverty) - reflected well. As to whether to immerse yourself? Wait till they have exhibition or a peculiar on So you get to see one more floor
Experiencia fantástica: This is a very special place for so many reasons and a precious jewel hidden in the heart of Camden and no doubt in the hearts of everyone who has ever visited this place. I could talk about the staff who are friendly, warm, knowledgeable and self effacing and kind. I could mention the diversity of exhibits, including the lovely Jablonsky family dramatisations and of course the Sheer beauty and priceless nature of the religious artifacts that are beautifully curated and presented with just the right amount of factual information. I could mention the volunteer guides and their enthusiasm for everything in the museum and their skill at conveying this. There are so many things, including the cafe which is a haven of tranquility and serves gorgeous smoked salmon bagels. I love the way the museum celebrates the historical, ethical, moral and spiritual treasure trove of the Jewish faith in all its diversity over the last four thousand years, but also challenges stereotypes and anti semitism in a convincing intellectual and thoughtful manner. The holocaust exhibit is excellent and the quiet dignity and integrity of the survivors and the unspeakable horrors they lived through and recalled will stay with me always. It's a must visit for all.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful place to visit. One of the best displayed Museums I've seen. Manageable size and friendly knowledgeable volunteers. You can avoid the Holocaust section. Interesting even if not interested! Nice cafe too.
Experiencia fantástica: I think for a relatively small museum, it packs a lot of information on the Jewish life and culture in UK with some global historical background. Personally, I was hoping for more London east end history, stories, people, anecdotes as I grew up in East London, but there's certainly a good flavour and introduction of this specific aspect. Interactive for school learning which is very commendable. Worth visiting on many levels.
Experiencia fantástica: This is a remarkable museum and essential for anyone wishing to gain a thorough understanding of the role of Jews in Britain and indeed the world over the millennia. The current special exhibit is extremely provocative and is very pertinent given the current rising levels of anti Semitism the world is experiencing.
Experiencia fantástica: Small but well planned displays covering many aspects Jewish life from medieval times till the present. Helpful staff, lift and toilets clearly marked plus a small cafe. Worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: The Charlotte Salomon temporary exhibition was the most moving and profound exhibition I've experienced. Well spaced and annotated. A must see before it closes on March 1 2020. The permanent exhibition on Jewish belief and customs and Jewish history in Britain was also comprehensive and very informative. Lovely volunteers and gift shop as well - as far as I know the only gift shop in the UK where you can buy a Hasidic rubber ducky and a Noam Chomsky sock puppet in the same transaction.
Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed my visit here and learnt alot about the history and culture of Jews in Britain from the first settlers who came over in 1066. The entry price is very fair, £8.50 Adult and £6.50 concession. The museum itself has three floors each with a different aspect of Jewish culture. The top floor is currently dedicated to the artistic work of Charlotte Salomon describing her life through a chronological set of paintings. The 2nd floor is devoted to the history and culture associated with Jewish settlement in England and is the core of this museum. It also houses a section on the holocaust. On the first floor you have all the beautiful Jewish religious artifacts, many focused on the Torah, the holy book.
Experiencia fantástica: Very well-organized. With detailed captions. You could learn a lot about the Jewish culture and traditions and it sort of demystifies them. (It is so informative that I could not finish all of them on one go!)
Experiencia fantástica: The Roman Vishniac exhibition was very interesting and very moving. The young lady guide was excellent she explained everything so well and was very patient when people asked her questions. With Thanks. Cyril Savage PS. I have visited The Jewish Museum many times over the years.
Experiencia fantástica: Really interesting and informative. As a non jew the are words and phrases that I have heard of but not known about,as well as symbols and items. They were all explained in an informative and 'non-patronising' way. The displays about every day Jewish life as well as the other displays about history, the disposal and the lives of individuals who had served in the war. Very impressive thank you for the day.
Experiencia fantástica: A very interesting museum about Jewish history and culture and also about the holocaust. Recommendation for kinds at the age of 12 I would say. Also an interesting exhibition about Jewish designers living in London. There is a very friendly and helpful staff answering you all the questions you have. Keep in mind that the only language for signs and information used is english. A little difficult to find as it is quite hidden, but Google Maps noted it right.
Experiencia fantástica: An unexpected gem in Camden. Where I expected to find solemnity mingled with religious fervour and sternness, I noticed in staff and display a friendly, open and loving dedication to its topic. Very worthwhile.
Experiencia fantástica: Small but well done museum. Good as an introduction to Jewish life in England and in general for non-Jews. They were a little "light" in filling in the story of Britain's less than stellar relationship with the Jews during the 1940s when Israel was becoming a state. But if the exhibit is meant to be an introduction (as it apparently is), then it's understandable in context.
Experiencia fantástica: Very friendly staff and volunteers quite happy to talk about the exhibits and how they were used in daily life. Small enough to be able to see everything and time and space to be able to stand and gaze at something that you find particularly interesting
Experiencia fantástica: Very culturally rich and intriguing museum - tis good for the mind to expand in knowledge. Couple that with happy, friendly staff and you have a great attraction!
Experiencia fantástica: You can know about history of Jewish in Europa last century
Experiencia fantástica: A respectful place full of great information about the heritage of Jews and their faith.
Experiencia fantástica: A little gem of a museum cut down a letter Street in London. It tracers aspects of Jewish life in London over the years and has some great stories to tell. It also tries to convey the Jewish way of life. It also highlights the lives of many prominent Jewish people from the UK. Well worth a visit if you are in London.
Experiencia fantástica: A great museum, with friendly helpful staff, explains about the Jewish religion, and also the history of Jews in the UK. There is a very moving section on the Holocaust, the focus is on the experience of survivor Leon Greenman. Currently there is some in depth information on the Kindertransport children, some six people relate their stories. Also, Roman Vishniac a photographer whose mission was to capture the life and times of European Jews pre and post Holocaust, has his work on show. All this and a nice cafe...a good way to spend a couple of hours.
Experiencia fantástica: A lovely open building with lots of space. Each exhibition was interestingly and clearly presented with a variety of interactive elements. Nice cafe and store.....would happily go back and ‘dig a little deeper’. I liked the religious section reflecting a synagogue and the mikveh. As ever it was interesting to read the testimonies of the kinder transport etc. The Vishniac photographic documentation of life in Eastern Europe and US was fascinating. I was particularly moved by the photograph of the young woman’s and old man discussing unfolding events...all round, it was an excellent visit. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Nice and interesting museum full of Jewish and Israeli history and even more. Small cafe for a quick lunch. Would recommend it as Camden Market very near by. Wish the ticket price was lower..
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent museum - may be smaller than some but the content and presentation is very interesting, of good quality and covers a range of historical periods with a global, European and local perspective. Really enjoyed the wonderful display on artifacts related to Judaism
Experiencia fantástica: I didn't know it was there! Good exhibits, some permanent and some not. A good schedule of talks, and a great selection of books in the shop. Don't miss the room on LGBT. I'm not religious, so I missed out the first floor, but the rest was worth it. The lox and cream cheese bagel was good, too.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing! Free admission. I expected less but it deserved my time. From outside you can consider it a small and insignificand place but is completely different when you enter. You go inside and the entire building is alive. Inside is a nice coffee shop. On the first level you have free entrance to the museum. You can go deep into the hustory of jewish people. There is a specific secrion dedicated in memory of those who died at Auschwitz.
Experiencia fantástica: Although it’s quite small, there are some really nice and interesting things to see. Chilling to see the costume of a Shoah surviver. Well worth to visit for everybody who’s interested in Jewish culture.
Experiencia fantástica: A well appointed museum that is easy to see in 4 hours. The displays are well lit and the descriptions easily read. Well worth the visit
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting museum in central London. Cheerful and friendly staff. The museum has a focus on how Jews have been treated in UK over times - something we all should have knowledge about, because it's far from positive historic events being retold, though some few exceptions exist. A visit here should be mandatory for all school kids.
Experiencia fantástica: Cracking wee museum. Very interesting exhibits depicting Jewish history in the UK and around the world. This includes the Shoah of course but the museum is focused on all aspects of Judaism. Very good and very informative.
Experiencia fantástica: Photographs by Roman Vishniac (1897-1990) were on show when I visited. His work has been described as 'rediscovered' partly because more of his works have been collected and are appreciated for their unique contribution to our understanding of the Jewish culture that Nazism tried to exterminate. The photos are both social documentary, of an era now gone, and stand as individual works of art.
Experiencia fantástica: When I was there 'Designs on Britain'' about exiles from Nazi Europe was featured - The guided trip through the design exhibition was really informative -Designer of the Chopper bike Tom Karen a big figure of the exhibition - also nice little café there
Experiencia fantástica: This is a fantastic museum. They have really utilized the space well, and the exhibits are well thought out and curated. I love how interactive it is, and the staff are lovely. Definitely will go again!
Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating gem of a museum with fantastic special exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit for the wonderful photography work of the late Elsbeth Juda, whose retrospective show has just opened.
Experiencia fantástica: Very well organized and presented museum suitable for both adults and young ones. Thanks to amazing staff and the volunteers who make the place special.
Experiencia fantástica: Enjoyed the visit very much. Good combination of general Jewish life and the life of the Jewish community in the UK. Ladt but not least the temporary exhibit of Design in Britain os certainly worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent, very interesting displays. Last time I saw the one about old vinyls that let me learn about the history of Jewish music. Very plesae place to be.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent, very interesting displays. Last time I saw the one about old vinyls that let me learn about the history of Jewish music. Very plesae place to be.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent museum, really interesting displays and very interactive for children. Explores all aspects of Judaism in Britain but doesn't bore you with lots of dense and unrelatable pieces of information.
