Experiencia fantástica: Es una absoluta atrocidad que el Consejo esté cerrando el Museo y vendiendo el hogar construido para las grandes colecciones que alberga. Mi familia ha disfrutado ir a ver las exposiciones estáticas y temporales aquí durante años. Nuestra historia y arqueología no deberían estar a la venta. Sé que el Consejo está en apuros económicos... pero si alguna vez hubo un caso para aumentar el precepto, este es el caso. La Policía recibe más cada año... sin embargo, su servicio para nosotros en High Peak disminuye. Hemos perdido todos los signos visibles de la Fuerza y ahora nos estamos autopoliciando. Prácticamente todas las estaciones de policía locales han cerrado y estamos subsidiando Chesterfield y Derby. Estoy seguro de que hay otros casos menos dignos que el único centro cultural en el norte de Derbyshire. ¡Arreglen la pudrición seca y reábranlo nuevamente! ¡La suscripción pública y el crowdfunding ni siquiera han sido intentados! Que el profesor Boyd-Dawkins persiga a todos los filisteos que son responsables de esta indignación.

There is a ramp to the entrance for wheelchair users or steps for those able to use them. Friendly and welcoming reception staff who explained the layout and facilities, which include a room for children to play in. I enjoyed the 1st floor exhibition which was relevant to the Buxton and Peak District. Fantastic exhibits. Videos of interest. So much information in a small place. We spent a good hour browsing. I'd highly recommend a visit.

Experiencia fantástica: My son and I really love Buxton Museum since it has been renovated! It may only be small, but there is so much to see and take in! We live locally and visit regularly and always spend around an hour in there, you're guaranteed to find something you haven't seen before. There's lots for children to interact with, my son is 3 and absolutely loves the Blue John light box, the drawers that can be opened throughout and all of the interactive displays - like the Roman Cheese and the oatcakes! It is free to enter with a recommended donation. A real asset to Buxton!

Experiencia fantástica: I used to go there all the time when I was a kid and I used to live in buxton. Took the family there . It's all changed not how it used to be but it had way more stuff and was nice and open . Worth a visit if you go to buxton

Experiencia fantástica: A great quirky little museum with a surprisingly amount of exhibits packed inside. There are places for the kids to explore as well as a few art displays, that seem to change quite regularly. And try to stop yourself singing the Bare necessities as you wonder past the Buxton Bear.

Experiencia fantástica: A brilliant little museum. Done fascinating historical, archeological and geological artifacts on display. A wide range of history packed into a small building. Didn't take long to peruse. Children's activity sheet was available to complete. They also have an art gallery but the exhibit was being changed when we visited.

Experiencia negativa: A strange, somewhat obscure venue. Offering an unusual collection from all areas of the arts combined with some local history included too. The building seemed to be run down, poorly lit and decorated. However, the museum was free to enter and offered 10 minutes respite from the pouring rain that was ensuing outside.

I loved the art on show in the gallery, and the highlight for me was the small focus on the Franklin Expedition and the indigenous artwork on display. Given that entry is free it's a wonderful little gem!!

Experiencia negativa: Call ahead, I'm a study abroad student and only could spend a day in Buxton. Everything--even the door--Said they were open. But it was closed. Very very disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: What a gem this place is. It's been a few years since I visited but the treasures of the peak is something to behold. There is nothing more interesting about finding out about where you live. And this museum has so much info. Fabulous for kids and grown ups. I wont leave it so long next time.

Not keen on the current exhibitors works though( 24/09/22) - very simplistic & not my thing at all. Will go again next time in Buxton, hopefully with a more interesting set of exhibitors... Oh yes - it's free admission with a donations box.

Experiencia fantástica: Lots to see and do in this small museum. Went specifically to find the Roman stuff they found at Brough, near Hope. Lots of hands on activities for children. Was happy to see they've still got the Mermaid. Learnt a lot more than I expected. Very friendly informative guide.

Experiencia fantástica: A fantastic little museum with some great items to see. The highlight for me had to be the Buxton mermaid truely grotesque, love her.

Experiencia fantástica: A super museum. We learned so much during our visit but our favourite exhibition was the photos taken in lockdown. We really enjoyed the exhibits in the upstairs room about the history of the area.

Experiencia fantástica: Lovely free museum with a permanent collection of historical artefacts from around Buxton. There is also a gallery where the exhibits change. Most recently we visited to see a collection of local art focusing on trees in Derbyshire which is on until June. If you're in Buxton, it's worth popping in for a look. It's free to visit, the staff is very helpful and they sell some nice items in the gift shop area.
