Experiencia fantástica: Excellent experience with genuine artifacts belonging to Sean MacDermott, a central figure in Ireland's formation. Ciaran and the team are both knowledgeable and welcoming. Worth a visit.
Experiencia positiva: The Stoney Woods Festival invited The Fighting Hares Irish Stick Fighting group to give a demonstration. A great show, followed by some massive tug-of-war battles. A great day out for all involved!
Experiencia fantástica: To visit the Sean MacDiarmada Homestead I’d recommend calling or popping into the Kiltyclogher Heritage Centre first. The MacDiarmada cottage is authentic and superbly preserved with great attention to detail. The tour guide (when I visited, Patricia) is a gold mine of information and has inspired me to learn more. The experience was Welcoming and Educational. I highly recommend a visit - I’d give it 6 stars if I could.

Experiencia fantástica: Who like Irish history, this is place is nice...
Experiencia fantástica: While my Dad, Uncle, and Second Cousin often talked about the family history, it was my first trip to Ireland. The car trip started in Sligo. The road around the mountain was truly breathtaking with the green follage, the houses adorned with window boxes full of flowers, small lakes, cows and sheep. What I was not prepared for was the warmth of the people I found in the small village of Kilty Clogher. Whether it was the cashier at the local store or Ciaran/Joe at the Heritage Centre, they were truly a treasure. Both Joe and Ciaran were very knowledgeable with the past history whether that was 1916 or 1970. Ciaran was unable to take us to Sean MacDermott’s house due to covid but was willing to escort me and my husband to the mountainous area where my family originated. I would have not been able to make that journey on my own even with gps. The trip up the road to Derragon and Kilea was also very beautiful. Ciaran was very knowledgeable about : the mountains, the caves, the rocks, the folklore, the history of the schools and the families that lived in the area. I learned more during that hour than I could ever imagine. I am glad that I stumbled onto Joe and Ciaran. if you are in Leitrim, please consider stopping by the heritage house.
Experiencia fantástica: Unbelievable experience! This was by far the best museum tour I have ever been on. The volunteers are top class, they are completely committed to telling the story of Seán McDiarmada, I have never seen such enthusiasm for a topic. The tour consists of a trip around the Kilty museum, and then a trip to the homestead of Seán McDiarmada. The volunteers will tell you everything you need to know about these topics. I can't recommend this tour enough. Please visit it if you are around Leitrim. Thanks Carol and Ciarán. Yous are legends.

Experiencia fantástica: Friendly People! Went here for an AA meeting in 1995, and afterwards was invited to to the home of Joe The town Butcher's home. Within minutes of arriving and chatting in the parlor, a pass through was opened and there was a plate full of the best ham sandwiches I've ever had, with a pot of tea. The conversation was lively, and full of stories! I was with a gentleman from County Cavan who met me in our hotel, (to make sure I wasn't a crazy person) and was assured by Kevin Dockery, a Cavan Garda my mom and dad had befriended on a previous trip that he was indeed safe to go out to a meeting with. Well, miles later after a beautiful trip on winding roads through woods and hills of sheep,we arrived at what was the local health clinic where the meeting was held. I can't tell you any of their names as time (and of course anonymity prevail) has erased them, but the people in that village were the kindest I've met in Ireland. That's really not fair though, as we never encountered anyone in Ireland who wasn't kind. All that said though, to experience the real Ireland and amazing people who know hospitality, stop in towns such as this, and take time to listen, breathe, and if Joe is still around, get some ham from his shop, a loaf of bread, and picnic on the roadside...you're sure to meet someone with a story who will warm your heart!
Experiencia fantástica: Well worth a visit. Had a fascinating morning listening to and exploring the local history. Kieran and Joe are so enthusiastic about the area it is great to listen to them.

Sean Mac Diarmada’s family home is open to visitors and is situated less than a mile outside the village just off the Manorhamilton road. The three roomed cottage overlooks Upper Lough MacNean.
